Diamond League Performances Highlight This Week's Performance of the Week ListThis week we saw top performances from the Monaco and London Diamond League meetings. There was also the distance-heavy Night of Athletics in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium. The top performances included a world record, two American records and multiple world leading and all-time great performances. Beatrice Chepkoech: The distance runner from Kenya shattered the world record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in Monaco by eight seconds, running 8:44.32. Timothy Cheruiyot: The middle-distance runner from Kenya set a world-leading mark in the 1,500 meters in Monaco, running 3:28.41. Courtney Frerichs: The distance runner broke the American record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in Monaco, finishing second in 9:00.85. Sifan Hassan: The distance runner from The Netherlands ran the third-best ever mile in London, running 4:14.71 in the deepest women's mile field ever assembled. Shelby Houlihan: The distance runner continued her fantastic year, breaking the American record in the 5,000 meters in Heusden-Zolder, running 14:34.45. Jakob Ingebrigtsen: The 17-year-old distance runner from Norway, ran an impressive 3:31.18 for fourth place in the Monaco 1,500 meters, breaking the European U-20 record. Emmanuel Korir: The middle-distance runner from Kenya won the 800 meters in London in 1:42.05. That ranks him sixth on the all-time performer list. Noah Lyles: The sprinter improved his world-leading mark in the 200 meters in Monaco, running 19.65. He is now equal with the eighth-best performer of all-time. Danil Lysenko: The authorized neutral athlete from Russia equaled the world lead in the high jump in Monaco, winning with a clearance of 7-10.50 (2.40m). Shaunae Miller-Uibo: The sprinter from the Bahamas became the 10th woman to break 49 seconds in the 400 meters in Monaco, running 48.97, which ranks her as the No. 10 all-time performer. More news |
