Tori Franklin Breaks Keturah Orji's American Record in the Indoor Triple JumpBy Adam KopetCompeting Friday at the Madrid Indoor Meeting, Tori Franklin broke the American record in the indoor triple jump with a leap of 47-9.75 (14.57m). Franklin finished second with her second-round record jump, finishing behind Yulimar Rojas of Venezuela. Rojas jumped 48-11.50 (14.92m) on her opening jump. She missed all of the 2018 outdoor season with injury. Pending record ratification, Franklin now owns the indoor and outdoor American triple jump records. She has jumped 48-8.25 (14.84m) outdoors. Keturah Orji owned the previous American indoor record with a mark of 47-8 (14.53m), set last year. Another top mark coming from Madrid was Anzhelika Sidorova, an authorized neutral athlete from Russia, in the pole vault. She cleared 16-1.25 (4.91m), which equals Katie Nageotte for fourth on the all-time indoor pole vault performer list. More news |
