Jordan Gray Earns USATF Athlete of the Week for Women's Decathlon American RecordPublished by
Jordan Gray Smashes American Record for Women's DecathlonBy Adam Kopet Jordan Gray has earned the USATF Athlete of the Week award for her American record performance in the women's decathlon. Gray scored 7,921 points at the National Women’s Decathlon Championships at San Mateo College, breaking the previous record of 7,577 points from 2000. Gray's performance ranks her third on the world all-time list and is the best score recorded since 2006. The women's decathlon is an infrequently held event that has had trouble gaining world-wide acceptance by top track and field organizations, including the IAAF. Prior to her American record performance, Gray concluded a successful career at Kennesaw State. She was runner-up in the pentathlon at the 2019 NCAA Division 1 Indoor Championships and she finished seventh in the heptathlon earlier this month at the NCAA Division 1 Outdoor Championships.
