Hakim Sani Brown Wins Second National TitleBy Adam Kopet Hakim Sani Brown won the 100-meter dash title Friday at the Japanese National Championships, running 10.02 seconds to break the meet record, according to Brett Larner of Japan Running News. For Sani Brown, who just finished his sophomore year at Florida, this was his second Japanese national title over 100 meters and third overall, having won the 100 and 200 meters in 2017. He went on to represent Japan at the 2017 IAAF World Outdoor Championships in the 200 meters. Sani Brown is coming off a successful NCAA season, having placed third in the 60 meters at the NCAA Division 1 Indoor Championships in March and third in both the 100 and 200 meters at the NCAA Division 1 Outdoor Championships. He also ran on the Florida 4x100 relay team that broke the collegiate record at the NCAA Division 1 Outdoor Championships, running 37.97. With the NCAA season behind him, Sani Brown can now focus on preparing for the IAAF World Outdoor Championships in the fall. His 9.97 clocking at the NCAA Championships in the 100 meters betters the IAAF qualifying standard. He also has the 200-meter standard. It is unknown whether he will contend for a spot on Japan's 4x100 relay team. More news |
