Long Jumper Kate Hall Signs Pro Contract with ASICS

By Todd Grasley for DyeStat

Kate Hall skipped her senior season at Georgia to turn professional and did so without a sponsor.

Now, the two-time NCAA champion has the support of ASICS after she won the Toyota USATF Indoor title in the long jump and took second place in the 60-meter dash.

“I am so grateful to have the support from ASICS because it has been my dream since I’ve been in high school to go to the Olympics and this brings me one step closer to achieving that goal,” Hall said.

Hall owns a personal best of 22 feet, 5 inches (6.83m), dating back to 2015 her senior year at Lake Region ME, when she broke a 39-year-old national high school record. The road hasn’t been easy though. The Maine native also must balance her athletic workload with being a Type 1 Diabetic. DYESTAT FEATURE

“Dealing with diabetes while being a professional is definitely a learning process,” she explained. “Having diabetes is just another stressor added to the stresses of being an athlete, such as making sure I’m staying hydrated, eating and sleeping well. I’m still learning how to deal with how my blood sugars react to certain workouts, but fortunately it gets easier every day and I’m grateful for that.” KATE HALL'S BLOG

At the recent Toyota USATF Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Hall finished 10th in the long jump and failed to qualify for the IAAF World Championships in Doha. She realizes that the transition from the NCAA to the pro scene takes time and is a learning process, but with her new sponsorship she is ready for the future.

“Because of ASICS, I am now able to focus just on training and managing my Diabetes, so that I can continue to pursue my Olympic dream,” she said. “My ultimate goal is to make the 2020 Olympics.”
