Ford Runs To Three-Peat To Join Select Company in N.D. By Mary Albl of DyeStat All-American distance runner Meghan Ford joined some elite company Saturday afternoon. Running in front of a hometown crowd, the Jamestown High senior won her third straight Class A North Dakota state cross country title. “I’m so grateful to have been able to win three titles in a row,” Ford said. “It has meant so much to have gained the support of so many people as I have ran for Jamestown the last six years.” Ford, who is committed to run for Furman University next fall, clocked 17:58.8. She is just the third runner in state history to collect three consecutive A titles, joining Joan Hammeren of Bismarck (1979-83) and Tarin Lachowitzer of Fargo South (2009)/Davies (2010-11). Second place went to Jaelyn Ogle of Watford City in 18:37.6. “I am so sad that high school cross country has come to an end, but I’m so happy that I was able to end it with a race I’m proud of and I’m very excited to start the next chapter of my running career,” she said. The Williston girls captured their first ever Class A state title, scoring 75 points to edge out Bismark (78 points). In the boys Class A race, Bismarck’s Sean Korsmo claimed his second individual cross country title of his career, finishing first in 15:27.5. The Bismarck Century boys repeated as state champs, scoring 75 points. It was also Century’s fourth title in the past five years for the program. In the Class B race held at Cooperstown Country Club Golf Course in Cooperstown, the Rugby girls defended their state title, placing five in the top 23 to score 80 points. Individually, Peyton Gette of Kindred won in 19:08.7. After placing second a year ago, the Bowman County boys left nothing to chance, placing four runners in the top 12 to score 56 points and win the team title. Senior Brian Miller led the way, finishing in first place in a time of 16:14.7.
