Oh, seniors. How we’ll miss you so in May. However, like the seniors we see each year, we want to remember you, and here at DyeStat Florida, we like to do the little things.

Most high schools have their seniors do an array of things, like senior quotes, signing senior banners, and recognizing seniors of the month. We kind of like the last idea, so we’re rolling it!

Check out our first Senior Of The Month candidates, which consist of eight seniors ─ four girls and four guys.

Girls Senior Candidates

Amanda Beach

At A Glance:

School: Melbourne Central Catholic High School

Times: 17:47 (5K), 5:05 (1600m), 10:48 (3200m)

Two-time XC state qualifier

One-time track state qualifier

Last fall, Beach finished seventh at the 2A cross country state meet and ran 18:32 at NXN Southeast. Last spring, she finished third in the 2A 3200 at state.

Kayley Delay

At A Glance:

School: Fletcher High School

Times: 17:55 (5K), 4:57 (1600m), 10:30 (3200m)

Three-time XC state qualifier

Three-time track state qualifier

2016 4A 3200m State Champion

Last fall, Delay finished second at the 4A cross country state meet, running her personal-best. Last spring, she finished second in the 4A 1600 at state but won the 3200 title.

Samantha Folio

At A Glance:

School: Holy Trinity High School

Times: 18:55 (5K), 5:13 (1600m), 11:28 (3200m)

Five-time XC state qualifier

Three-time track state qualifier

Fifth-place finisher in 1600 and 3200 at the 1A state championships and was part of Holy Trinity’s second-place 4x800 relay at the state meet.

Jennifer Lima

At A Glance:

School: East Lake High School

Times: 18:55 (5K), 2:16 (800), 5:06 (1600m), 11:00 (3200m)

One-time XC state qualifier

Three-time track state qualifier

Last spring, she finished third in the 3A 3200 at state, fourth in the 1600, and eighth in the 800. Ran 2:16 for the second time of the season at the Avery Creek Distance Showcase.

Caleb Pottorff

At A Glance:

School: Lincoln Park High School

Times: 15:42 (5K), 4:16 (1600m), 9:11 (3200m)

Four-time XC state qualifier

Three-time track state qualifier

2016 2A 3200 State Champion

Last fall, Pottorff finished second at the 2A cross country state meet and ran 15:52 at NXN Southeast. Last spring, he finished second in the 2A 1600 at state but won the 3200 title in 9:16. Ran 4:16 at the Avery Creek Distance Showcase.

Mason Jones

At A Glance:

School: Titusville High School

Times: 15:44 (5K), 4:24 (1600m), 9:23 (3200m)

Three-time XC state qualifier

Two-time track state qualifier

Finished ninth at the 2A cross country state meet last fall and fifth in the 2A 3200 at the state meet last spring.

Matthew Clark

At A Glance:

School: Creekside High School

Times: 15:49 (5K), 4:28 (1600m), 9:17 (3200m)

Two-time XC state qualifier

One-time track state qualifier

University of Florida Commit

Finished fifth at the 3A cross country state meet last fall, and third in the 3200 at the track state meet. He was also on Creekside’s second-place 4x800 relay at the state meet.

Calum McFetridge

At A Glance:

School: Buchholz High School

Times: 15:53 (5K), 4:19 (1600m), 9:29 (3200m)

Two-time XC state qualifier

A true gamer who puts it all on the line, Calum finished third at the 4A cross country state meet last fall. In a heartbreaking end to his junior track season, Calum was running the 3200 at the ‘Region of Death.’ Sitting in the top four with about 150 to go, his body gave out, resulting in him finishing ninth.
