USATF Confirms Birmingham as Training Camp Site for 2017 World Championships in London

By Adam Kopet, DyeStat Editor

The Birmingham Newsroom reports that USATF has chosen Birmingham, U.K., as the site for the Team USA training camp for the 2017 IAAF World Championships in August in London.

The Birmingham City Council will coordinate the camp with USATF to ensure training and accommodation needs are met.

Team USA and Jamaica used Birmingham as a training camp site in the lead up to the 2012 Olympic Games in London. It is believed the two teams provided a £8 million ($10 million) boost to the local economy.

In addition to securing Team USA's presence in Birmingham this summer, the city council has extended an invitation for the Jamaican team to return as well.
