Evan Jager To Return to His Alma Mater Jacobs IL and Donate His 2016 Olympic UniformBy Adam Kopet Madhu Krishnamurthy of the Daily Herald reports Evan Jager will return to Jacobs IL to donate his 2016 Olympic jersey. Jager, who won the silver medal at the Rio Olympics in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, graduated from Jacobs in 2007. As a Golden Eagle in Algonquin, Illinois, he won four state titles. Ten years later Jager will return to Jacobs for an assembly where he will speak to Jacobs students. The jersey and competition bib he wore in the Olympic steeplechase final will be included in a special display alongside his high school and college uniforms. Jager initially attended Wisconsin, but his coach, Jerry Schumacher, left to start a professional training group in Portland after his freshman year. Jager used the opportunity to turn pro and follow Schumacher to Oregon, where Jager still resides. Jager qualified for his first senior national team for the 2009 IAAF World Outdoor Championships in the 5,000 meters. However, it was not until 2012 that Jager began to make an impact on the world stage. That was the year he took up the steeplechase. That year, Jager finished sixth at the Olympics in London. Four years later, he won silver. This year at the World Championships in London, Jager added a bronze medal to his collection. This was Jager's first trip back to Jacobs since last year's Olympics.
