Trey Knight improves to 83-6.75 in the weight throw By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Ridgefield WA sophomore Trey Knight surpassed his own sophomore class record in the weight throw and moved to No. 4 all-time with 83 feet, 6.75 inches Saturday at a SuperThrowers meet in Oregon City. Knight suffered an injury to both of his shoulders when he slipped and fell coming out of his shower early this month, but a chiropractor was able to pop the joints back into place and he resumed training. "I put one arm out and put one arm back and landed awkwardly," Knight said of the fall. "It healed pretty quick. I took a full week off and iced a lot and did some physical therapy." Knight is the U.S. leader in the weight throw, by more than 13 feet. GOURLEY'S LIST The sophomore passed some big names on the all-time list Saturday, including Rudy Winkler and Adam Kelly. "Pretty cool," he said. "I'm pretty nonchalant. I do whatever happens that day and just try to PR. If it happens it happens, if it doesn't, it doesn't." Knight also got a personal best in the shot put Saturday, with 62-1.25. His next competition is Feb. 2-3 at the UW High School Invitational in Seattle. More news |
