Mia Brahe-Pedersen, an incoming freshman at Lake Oswego High in Oregon, joins DyeStat editor Erik Boal to discuss her victories in both the girls 100-meter dash and 200 meters in the NSAF x AthleticNET Virtual Nationals. Brahe-Pedersen, who attended Lake Oswego Middle School and represents The Inner Circle Track Club, was hand-timed in 11.6 in the 100 and 24.5 in the 200 at Alder Creek Middle School in Milwaukie, but the final results according to Dartfish (similar to FAT) were recorded as 11.84 for the 100 and 24.74 for the 200, both personal-best performances. Brahe-Pedersen was one of three athletes in the country, along with sophomore Roisin Willis of Stevens Point High in Wisconsin and junior Malcolm Bevans of St. Ignatius College Prep in Illinois to win multiple events as part of NSAF x AthleticNET Virtual Nationals. Brahe-Pedersen also won four events Feb. 7-8 for Step Ur Game Up at the Nike Boise Indoor meet in Idaho, running 7.74 for the 60-meter dash, 24.85 in the 200, 57.93 in the 400 and contributing to a 1:44.48 effort in the 4x200 relay. She shares her emotions regarding Step Ur Game Up no longer operating as a club, but remaining with longtime coach Hashim Hall with new club The Inner Circle. Brahe-Pedersen looks ahead to potential competitions in July in Las Vegas and Florida, and the opportunities to run relays with Inner Circle, in addition to her individual events. She also talks about how she has enjoyed baking for her family during quarantine.
