Louie Quintana hired to replace Kelly Sullivan at Oregon StateBy Adam Kopet, DyeStat Editor
Quintana has spent the previous 16 years coaching at Arizona State, where he began as a graduate assistant. He has been the head men's and women's cross country coach and an assistant with the track program since 2004. At Arizona State, Quintana coached 48 All-Americans and six NCAA champions, including Amy Hastings and Shelby Houlihan. His cross country teams advanced to the NCAA Division 1 Cross Country Championships 12 times. In 2006, he was named USTFCCCA Distance Coach of the Year. Oregon State has slowly rebuilt its cross country and track and field programs after reviving them in 2004. Kelly Sullivan, who brought the program back and spearheaded funding for a new facility, retired last month. Dumble left Arizona State last year to move to Corvallis and was quickly hired to become the school's throws coach. More news |
